Brief History. In 1946, Q & S Grinding was founded by Frank Quinn and Harvey L. Scott in Huntington Park, California. They had one Blanchard machine, and Frank Quinn ran the machine while Harvey Scott took care of the office, Sales and the Deliveries.
In 1952, Harvey Scott left the company and Frank Quinn took in two new partners, Allen Parker and Jeff Muse. At this time, the name was changed to Quality Grinding Co.. The new company had a centerless machine and a cylindrical grinder in addition to the blanchard machine. Shortly thereafter, Jeff Muse sold his share to Dan Allen. In 1952, Bert P. Veldkamp was employed as a blanchard machine operator. Frank Quinn died in 1954. Allen Parker and Dan Allen purchased Frank Quinn’s interest from his widow and continued as partners until 1956 when Allen Parker sold Dan Allen who thus became sole proprietor. At this point, the equipment consisted of one cylindrical machine, one I.D. machine and one blanchard machine. In 1958, Dan Allen incorporated the company and bought out J.B. Grinding, a small O.D.-I.D. shop in Bell Gardens. Audis Wortham, Bert P. Veldkamp, and James A. Brice each bought a small share in the new corporation. By this time, the organization had its first surface grinding and there were approximately 12 employees. In 1965, the company started making sine plates, marketing them under the name Angle-Rite. Allen and Audis Wortham decided to retire. They sold their interests to Bert P. Veldkamp and James A. Brice. In 1992, Bert P. Veldkamp retired and sold his half to James A. Brice. James Brice, as the new chairman, appointed Thomas J. Brice as the new president of Quality Grinding and John Van Unen as Vice President. In 2008, due to harsh economic times and health reasons, Mr. Thomas Brice sells Quality Grinding to Cornel Feceu and Robert Berends. Four years later, for personal reasons, Robert Berends decides to leave the company in 2013. Therefore, making Cornel Feceu sole owner of Quality Grinding.
